We’re pleased to announce that the Nottingham Mavericks Ice Hockey Club trial registration form is now open for the 2026–2027 season.
We welcome students from universities across the Midlands, as well as those studying online or completing Level 4+ college courses locally. Whether you’re a seasoned player or brand new to the sport, this is your chance to join one of the most exciting and close-knit clubs around.
About the Mavericks
The Nottingham Mavericks Ice Hockey Club is one of Britain’s largest and most successful university ice hockey clubs, bringing together student-athletes from across Nottingham and the wider East Midlands.
With players from the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University and other regional institutions, the Mavericks offer a competitive yet inclusive environment where players of all abilities can develop, compete and be part of something bigger.
From regular British University Ice Hockey Association (BUIHA) league and cup competition to the iconic Nottingham Varsity series, Mavericks players have the opportunity to compete on some of the biggest stages in university sport — including the annual Varsity showdown at Motorpoint Arena Nottingham.
