The Varisty Event
The Nottingham Varsity Series comprises of several sports events pitching the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University against each other. But no event in the series is as anticipated as the annual Varsity Ice hockey match.
This event is one of the largest ice hockey varsity matches outside of North America, consistently selling out the 10,000 seats inside the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham in a matter of hours alongside being broadcasted live by the Universities student media across the world.
In the end, the winner takes home the Varsity Trophy, which is held until the conclusion of the following year's series. Demand for tickets to the match is so high that since 2016 there has been the need for a second fixture, held outside of the Varsity Series, to appease fans need for tickets.
